SMART Goals

New year new...NOPE, let's not

January is a notorious month for setting lofty goals in the hope of completely reinventing ourselves. This year we’re going to take a different approach. Goals are great, but those of us with depression, anxiety, and/or ADHD often need smaller, more short-term objectives to reach those greater heights.

My favorite way to set goals is the SMART method.

Specific - Set an intention with as much detail as possible.

Measurable - Detail how you know you’re getting closer to your goal.

Attainable - Make sure this is a goal possible to reach.

Realistic - Don’t overwhelm yourself, you know what you're able to do.

Time sensitive - Set a deadline.

If you haven’t but set goals, but want to try this SMART goal-setting method. If you did set your goals for 2022, go back and see where you can apply this plan.

Whether you set goals, do not set goals, reach your benchmark, or veer off course, be kind to yourself.

Proverbs 19:8 To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.

Cheers to making it to 2022!
